Book Marketing for novels

Marketing fiction books may seem like a bizarre new terrain; after spending months in isolation, you suddenly thrust your baby out in the world… and watch it sink.

A powerful book launch can give every fiction book its chance in the sun, but few authors know how to do it well. You can have very successful fiction books with very little marketing – but only if you’re willing to use publishing ‘hacks’ like giving books away for free. You don’t need to grow your email list or build an author platform, but the chances of success will be much slimmer, and you won’t have any control (or – more importantly – a relationship with your readers).

Many authors will complain that they ‘hate marketing’ and ‘just want to write’… that’s fine. Let them fail. You and I know better. We want to be career authors. We are happy to take the reigns of our own futures and build a platform that will make successful book launches easier every time around.

Writing LOTS of books is the most important thing, so I appreciate that you don’t want to waste a lot of time on social media or blogging. That’s fine. But you can probably spare an hour a day, or 3 hours twice a week, to focus on building your author platform. And even if you don’t do that, you can still use these lists and guides I’ve put together to launch this book and worry about your author platform later.
